Marithel — Sacred, Planar, Restricted, and Confiscated Materials

Some materials are not ordinary goods even when a price can be imagined.

Their custody is defined by healing, temple duty, grave law, ecological survival, planar danger, quarantine, military risk, or a community’s refusal to treat them as property.

Dreaming Grove Blossoms

The Dreaming Grove stands on a sea rock off Begerìn in the Southpoint Isles.

Its cerulean blossoms are known publicly as healing-context material under Veyran caretaker authority.

They are not normal temple stock.

Leaving the grove

A blossom may leave only through recognized purpose.

Publicly acceptable reasons include:

• a specific healing obligation;
• a caretaker gift;
• a rite concerning recovery, dream, mercy, or return;
• or custody established by the grove’s recognized community.

The public page does not declare whether every blossom is gathered, shed, gifted, or produced through the same process. Caretakers determine whether the individual blossom can be taken.

Custody

A blossom in lawful transfer normally has:

• declared patient or healing purpose;
• recognized caretaker;
• receiving healer or temple;
• transport method;
• expected use period;
• and instruction for return or disposal if unused.

A buyer cannot convert a healing authorization into a research license or luxury possession.

Preservation

A blossom is protected from:

• crushing;
• dry heat;
• salt spray;
• contamination;
• prolonged darkness if the caretaker forbids it;
• incompatible magical storage;
• and casual handling.

The correct method may depend on the blossom and purpose.

Misuse

Misuse includes:

• false patient;
• speculative purchase;
• removal without consent;
• sale after authorized healing;
• substitution;
• use in an unrelated spell or ritual;
• and keeping the blossom after the obligation ends.

Misuse is serious because it violates both sacred custody and access to future healing.

PF2e access

A Dreaming Grove blossom is story access.

Its exact effect belongs to a defined item, ritual, preparation, or campaign use. It is not general material for unrestricted Crafting.

Sirenward Confiscated Samples

“Sirenward confiscated sample” is a legal custody category.

It does not name one substance.

A sample may be:

• mineral;
• tissue;
• shell;
• fluid;
• glass-like material;
• recovered fitting;
• residue;
• growth;
• written medium;
• or an object no public authority has classified.

Seizure

A patrol or recognized Sirenward authority records:

• place and circumstances;
• vessel or person;
• container;
• apparent condition;
• witnesses;
• exposure;
• immediate symptoms;
• and whether the object was touched, opened, activated, or heard.

The object is isolated before anyone argues about value.

Transport

Transport uses:

• sealed case;
• visible custody mark;
• separate manifest;
• limited handling;
• route notification;
• and receiving authority.

A sample is not placed beside food, medicine, ordinary salvage, passenger baggage, or unrestricted magical cargo.

Examination

Sirenward Listeners and approved specialists may examine a sample under limited authority.

They record:

• what was done;
• what changed;
• what did not change;
• which instruments were used;
• who was present;
• and what remains unknown.

An unknown result is a valid result.

Custody sites

The Sirenward Listening Post can receive and isolate material.

The Sirenward Black Archive can hold restricted records and objects under Compact authority.

The Sirenward Compact can continue restriction, permit limited transfer, order destruction, or refuse release.

None of these actions proves the sample is supernatural.

Counterfeit samples

Counterfeit “deep material” is common enough to be dangerous.

Frauds include:

• ordinary shell stained under pressure;
• scrap glass placed in a restricted case;
• false Compact marks;
• stolen archive labels;
• harmless material sold with a frightening story;
• and dangerous material falsely described as Sirenward to discourage inspection.

Possession

Private possession may be illegal even when the material appears inert.

A sample does not become lawful because someone bought it.

Planar Glass

Planar glass is rare material used in lenses, containment, portals, divination, or other planar work.

Marithel receives it through:

• foreign trade;
• specialist commission;
• inheritance;
• temple or scholarly custody;
• salvage;
• confiscation;
• or a planar site whose public access is recognized.

It is not treated as a universal Saltglass ingredient.

A lenswright may refuse to work it without:

• source record;
• declared purpose;
• containment;
• magical examination;
• and a workshop able to isolate failure.

Kraken Ink

Kraken ink is a rare maritime material used in magic, writing, and curses.

Marithel does not assume that every vial came from a local lawful hunt.

Public acquisition can include:

• foreign trade;
• recovered cargo;
• naturally shed or collected material under an accepted account;
• gift or tribute;
• confiscation;
• and specialist supply whose origin remains documented.

The seller must answer whether the source involved killing, injury, theft, protected territory, or an intelligent being.

Uses

A specific preparation may support:

• durable maritime ink;
• magical writing;
• curse work;
• concealment;
• record preservation;
• underwater marking;
• or a defined PF2e item or ritual.

The ink has no universal effect.

Risks

• false species claim;
• ordinary ink dyed black;
• alchemical contamination;
• cursed batch;
• damaged seal;
• coerced source;
• unlawful monster hunting;
• and a vial taken from evidence.

Relics, Grave Material, and No-Claim Cargo

Sacred or grave-associated material may be:

• held by a temple;
• held by family;
• held by reef community;
• held as evidence;
• held under sanctuary;
• or held because no authority has yet agreed what it is.

Custody is not ownership.

A verified relic fragment is generally transferred through responsibility rather than ordinary sale.

No-claim wreck cargo remains restricted even when no living owner appears.

• A saint fragment is genuine and held by someone who cannot keep it safe.
